Whole-Home Surge Protection in the West Valley

Arizona monsoons send voltage spikes through the grid that fry electronics, AC compressors, pool pumps, and sometimes panels themselves. A whole-home surge protector at the panel intercepts spikes before they reach anything plugged in. It costs a fraction of replacing your equipment after a storm.

Who Needs Whole-Home Surge Protection

Honestly? Almost every home in the West Valley. But it's especially worth it if you have:

  • EV chargers, smart home equipment, or premium electronics
  • Newer high-efficiency AC unit (the inverter electronics are surge-sensitive)
  • Pool pump or spa with a variable-speed drive
  • Solar panels (yes — they need protection too)
  • Home office or media room with valuable equipment
  • Lost equipment in a previous storm or surge event
  • Live in north Peoria, Buckeye, or anywhere with frequent monsoon outages

What Sets My Work Apart

Type 2 surge protector at the main panel. I install whole-home surge protectors that wire into your main panel, intercepting spikes before they reach any circuit. UL-listed Type 2 devices with status indicator lights so you know they're still working.

Layered protection: panel + outlets. A whole-home protector handles the big spikes from the grid. Outlet-level surge strips handle smaller spikes and provide a second layer for sensitive electronics. They work together — neither is a complete solution alone.

20+ year service life. Quality surge protectors last 20+ years and have status indicators that show when they need replacing. Good ones won't need attention for decades.

How Installation Works

Whole-home surge protector installs are quick — typically 1 hour:

1

Panel Assessment

I check your main panel and confirm it has the right space and configuration.

2

Power Down

Brief power-off, usually 15–30 minutes.

3

Install

Surge protector wires into a 2-pole breaker slot at the panel, with neutral and ground connections.

4

Verify

Power back on, status indicator confirmed working.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from a power strip with surge protection?

Power strips only protect things plugged into them. Whole-home protectors protect every circuit at once, including hardwired equipment like AC compressors, pool pumps, and the wiring itself.

How much does installation cost?

Significantly less than replacing one mid-range TV or AC compressor. I give a flat quote that includes the device and the install.

Will I notice anything different after install?

No. Surge protectors work invisibly. The only sign they're working is the status indicator light. You'll only really notice them when they save your equipment during a storm.

Can it be retrofitted to an older panel?

Almost always, yes. Some panels need a small adapter, some don't. I'll tell you after the assessment.

One Storm Pays for It Ten Times Over
