What Sets My Work Apart
Recessed canless LED is the new standard. Old-style recessed cans with separate trims and bulbs are mostly obsolete. I install canless LED disks that fit in 6-inch holes — no can required, lower profile, longer-lasting, dimmable, and changeable color temperature. They're the right choice for most retrofits.
Smart switches without the rip-out. Lutron Caseta and Leviton Decora Smart switches replace your existing switches one-for-one without rewiring. They work with Apple Home, Google Home, and Alexa. I install them at the same labor cost as a regular switch swap.
Outdoor lighting that survives the desert. Arizona sun destroys cheap outdoor fixtures. I steer clients toward fixtures rated for desert UV exposure and damp/wet locations. Spend a little more once and replace less.
How a Lighting Job Works
Lighting jobs vary from a 30-minute fixture swap to a multi-day install for a whole-home retrofit. Typical flow:
Plan / Walk-Through
We walk the space, talk through what you want, and pick fixtures. I'll tell you what works and what doesn't.
Rough-In (if needed)
For new lighting, I run wire, cut openings, and install boxes.
Install & Trim
Fixtures mount, switches and dimmers wire in, everything tested.
Cleanup & Walkthrough
I clean up. Then we walk through together so you can confirm it's all correct.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you supply the fixtures or do I?
Either works. I usually let homeowners pick fixtures because taste varies and you'll live with them. I can tell you what's good vs. junk before you buy. If you want me to source, I can — happy to either way.
How many recessed lights do I need?
Rule of thumb: one 6-inch can per 25 square feet for general lighting. Kitchens and high-traffic areas often want more. We'll plan it together.
Are smart switches worth it?
If you'll use them, yes. If you won't, no. Lutron Caseta is the gold standard for reliability — they just work. Don't pay for smart features you won't use.
Can you install during a remodel before drywall?
Absolutely. Rough-in pricing is typically lower than retrofit because we're not cutting drywall. If you're remodeling, get me in before the drywall goes up.
