Ceiling Fan Installation in the West Valley
In Arizona, ceiling fans aren't a luxury. I install new fans, swap old ones, and rewire fan-rated boxes for switch control. If your current fixture isn't a fan-rated box, that's a replacement — not optional. Standard light boxes can't safely support a fan motor's weight and torque.
What Counts as a Ceiling Fan Install
Different jobs, different time and cost:
- New fan installation where there's no fixture currently (most complex)
- Replacing a light fixture with a fan (need to upgrade the box to fan-rated)
- Replacing an existing fan with a new one (simplest)
- Outdoor or patio fan installation (damp/wet location rated)
- Smart fan switches and remote-control receivers
- Adding a wall switch for fan + light control
What Sets My Work Apart
Fan-rated boxes are non-negotiable. A standard light box is rated for about 5 lbs of static weight. A ceiling fan with a motor running adds dynamic loads — vibration, torque — that a regular box can't handle safely. Every fan install requires a fan-rated box. If yours doesn't have one, I install one.
Smart fan controls. Lutron, Bond, and Hampton Bay all make smart fan controls that let you control speed and direction from your phone or voice assistant. I install them during the fan install if you want them.
Outdoor fans need to be rated for the location. Damp-rated for covered patios, wet-rated for fully exposed locations. Most homeowners buy the wrong one. I'll tell you what to buy before you spend money on the wrong fan.
How a Fan Install Works
Most fan installs are 1–2 hours. Outdoor or new-location installs take longer.
Box Assessment
I check whether your current box is fan-rated. If not, I install one.
Mount
Bracket installs first, fan motor mounts to bracket.
Wire & Switch
Fan wires to switch, switch wired correctly for fan + light control.
Test & Balance
Run fan on all speeds, balance blades if needed, verify wall switch and remote.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you supply the fan or do I?
Either works. Most homeowners buy their own because fan styles are personal. I can recommend brands worth their price.
How much does it cost?
Depends on whether the box needs upgrading and whether there's existing wiring. Simple replacements are quick. New installs (running new wire to a ceiling location) take longer.
Can you install on a vaulted ceiling?
Yes. Vaulted-ceiling installs need a sloped-ceiling adapter, which most fans include or can be ordered for.
Does my old fan box need to be replaced?
If it was installed for a light only, almost certainly yes. Fan-rated boxes have specific bracket requirements and weight ratings.
